the innovteg project ends - october 2014

The INNOVTEG project has come to an end with all the partners attending a final review meeting in Brussels on Tuesday the 21st October 14.


The project was praised by the European Commission particularly for the materials research, the excellent collaboration between partners and the benefits that each partner has gained from being involved in the project. In relation to dissemination 5 papers were accepted into peer reviewed journals, 17 presentations were given and 6 posters presented with one winning a best poster award. In addition 4 more papers are currently being prepared.


The project has produced some significant results in terms of sulphur based thermo-electric materials performance  and scaled-up commercial production of the powders. The project prototype was tested and technological and economic validations carried out. It is considered that there is potential for a second project to further investigate materials and  the system design.

IMPORTANT PROJECT DELIVERABLES PROVIDED - AUGUST 2013

In recent weeks a number of key deliverables have been generated and submitted to the EU. These cover technical, materials and engineering aspects. Specifically they are:

- Baseline consolidated n and p-type sulphides

- Identification of the SPS sintering conditions

- Identification of densification parameters

- An initial engineering design for the thermo-electric generation system

- An interfacial layer and chemically compatible solders selected

Together with dissemination and knowledge management activities. Specifically they are:

- Publishable Project Materials

- Interim plan for use and dissemination of the foreground.

A Mid-term Project Review carried out by the EU recommended continuation of the project.

 

international conference on thermoelectrics - july 2013

The project partners attended the exhibition and presentation programme within the 32nd International Conference on Thermoelectrics held on 30 June - 4 July 2013, in Kobe Japan.

- Project partner Heriot-Watt University based in Edinburgh, UK presented a poster on 'Ordered-Defect Sulphides as Thermoelectric Materials' and also delivered a presentation entitled 'Thermoelectric and - Structural Properties of CoxTiS2.

- Project partner Cenre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) based in Caen, France, presented an award winning poster on 'Thermoelectric Properties and non-stoichiometry in TiS2 based compounds' together with a presentation entitled 'Structure and thermoelectric properties of Ag intercelated TiS2 compounds'.
